Position Overview

The Intake Coordinator at Red River Pharmacy will speak directly with patients and their families; determining their needs, medical history, and special requirements pertaining to the patient. The position is responsible for managing telephone inquiries concerning home infusion services conducted . The Intake Coordinator will screen potential patients and assist them with their questions and concerns. Candidate must be detailed, self-motivated, and have an outgoing personality. Professional communication skills are a must. Previous medical experience is a plus. Your responsibilities as an intake coordinator include gathering patient records.

Collecting medical histories, and obtaining any insurance information from the patient. This position is responsible for performing a variety of social service duties.

Essential Job Functions

· Answer and return high-volume inbound calls in a timely and professional manner.

· Schedule appointment for patient intake and complete demographics according to policy and procedure.

· Communicate with physicians, nursing staff and clinicians as it pertains to patient assessment

· Follow up with referral sources with updates on referrals sent.

· Developed personal organization and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment

· Maintained strictest confidentiality; adhered to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

· Organized and prioritized all work to ensure that all clients were taken care of.

· Provided support to other staff as necessary.

· Maintained a polite and professional telephone manner.

· Conduct follow up calls on patients according to policy and procedure

· Confirm patient appointments.

· Coordinate with physicians and medical groups.

· Other duties, as assigned.

  • Intake experience Strongly Preferred.

Physical Demands

· Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

· Requires ability to work under stressful situations demanding high concentration and energy level.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

· Basic Understanding of mental health and chemical dependency

· Understanding of HIPAA guidelines and policies

· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Etc.) as well as an understanding of email and attachments. Strong typing and computer application skills. Able to operate telephone, copier, and other basic business machines.

· Understanding of documentation as it pertains to the healthcare industry

· Ability to work with a diverse population of people.
