A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

As a Research and Development Engineer, you play an essential role in researching, planning, executing, and reporting on experimental tests or qualification plans involving existing and new technologies, processes, designs, and materials. By maintaining a high level of expertise in SCI products, you identify, develop, evaluate, and implement solutions that differentiate between products. You provide technical support and troubleshooting at customer sites, including pre-sales, installation, training, and product upgrades.

Additionally, you plan and execute internal testing, such as design or material exploration, process application validation, and product demonstrations in response to internal or external requests. You also participate in the development of new products, product enhancements, and product applications. Responding directly to customer requests, you provide accurate information regarding SCI products. As needed, you support our engineering team on complex production projects.

You develop and secure intellectual property where identified and provide technical sales support at customer sites for new technologies. Your hard work and engineering expertise ensures customer satisfaction with our services, and it brings you great fulfillment to know you serve in such an important role with our company!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in vacuum, thin films, or plasma systems
  • Ability to plan and execute complex experimental programs, including hardware definition as well as data collection, analysis, organization, and presentation
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
