Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Research Assistant I in the laboratory of Dr. Sodhi in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Neuroscience at Loyola University Chicago. The focus of the Sodhi lab is on personalized medicine, drug discovery, and basic science research for psychiatric disorders (i.e., schizophrenia, depression, suicidality). Our goal is to utilize modern techniques in neuropharmacology, behavioral pharmacology, and/or genomics to identify and interrogate novel drug targets and biomarkers for psychiatric illness.

Following an initial training period, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to research projects with supervision and to assume some lab management responsibilities.
Preference will be given to candidates with previous undergraduate research experience and/or candidates interested in pursuing a career in biomedical research or medicine. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are required for this position.
Dr. Sodhi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology & Neuroscience at Loyola University Chicago who has received formal training in pharmacology and genomics from the University of Oxford, University of London, and Vanderbilt University.
The Sodhi laboratory is housed in the Loyola Center for Translational Research and Education (CTRE) and the Stritch School of Medicine. Located in the western suburbs of Chicago, the CTRE is in close proximity to numerous family-friendly living areas (e.g. Oak Park, Riverside, La Grange, Western Springs, Oak Brook, Hinsdale). We are also accessible from downtown Chicago by public transit.

Education Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree

Experience Required:
undergraduate research

Experience Preferred:
1-2 years of previous job-related laboratory experience

Priority will be given to applicants who have experience with: molecular biology, neuroscience or biochemistry laboratory techniques.
