Department Overview:
The Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences is an independent research institute within OHSU that is dedicated to health and safety in the workplace. The Institute receives its base funding from the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Fund. It leverages this base funding to secure federal government grants in basic, clinical, and applied research.
Function/Duties of Position:

The research associate will work on the Resilience Supportive Leadership Training (RESULT)
Study. Duties will vary based on current project needs, with the primary focus on research data management and analysis, and the preparation of published manuscripts in conjunction with other team members.

The RESULT study focuses primarily on military populations, but data from other workplace intervention studies are available for analysis. Most studies include data that are nested within organizations or other units, as well as dyadic data (e.g., employee-supervisor).

The research associate will assist with reporting for regulatory functions, such as IRB and quarterly reports to funder. Other duties, under the guidance of Dr. Hammer, will include making conference presentations, assisting with other dissemination materials, and assisting with grant proposal development.

This is a temporary position, ending on September 14, 2023.

Responsibilities include:
  • Manage data and data analysis for RESULT grant
  • Contributing to scientific publications and presentations
  • Assist with regulatory reporting, including reports to funder and Human Subjects (IRB)
  • Assist with new grant development
Required Qualifications:
Education:
  • Master’s degree in relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 5 years of relevant experience

Experience:
  • 3 years of relevant experience with social-science research
  • Experience in research, especially related to human subjects
  • Experience with data analysis and management of survey data, any platform
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently with occasional supervision
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, to prioritize effectively and achieve deadlines.
  • Ability to conduct independent and collaborative research, with demonstrated experience in problem solving.
  • Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with issues of a sensitive nature and to maintain research integrity
  • Ability to translate complex research findings for lay audiences at an appropriate level.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
  • PhD in relevant field
Experience:
  • Experience with MPlus statistical software and working with nested data
  • Experience with REDCap or other online surveys
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
  • Ability to gather, compile, analyze and maintain, in a range of formats, information from a variety of sources, including research publications, web sources, and internal and external contacts.
