Job Description Summary:
The employee will participate in federally and privately funded studies in Dr. Reena Rao's lab. Dr. Rao directs a research program that investigates pathobiology of kidney diseases. A current focus is on understanding the molecular basis of paracellular transport by the renal tubule and its importance in kidney diseases. This individual will investigate the kidney and intestinal abnormalities in mice with tissue-specific conditional mutations in claudin-2 and claudin-5 isoforms and their role in kidney stone and glomerular diseases.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum qualification includes a degree of Master's in biotechnology, physiology, or pharmacology. Essential biomedical research experience includes using both in vitro and in vivo systems to study disease pathogenesis and drug testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in basic biochemistry, molecular and cell biology techniques, mouse-related and cell culture studies.
Job Duties Outlined:
Design and conduct experiments, and interpret data under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator
Transgenic mouse breeding and experimentation.
Perform molecular and cell biology techniques such as DNA and RNA extractions, RT-PCR, immunoblot analysis, immunofluorescence staining and tissue culture.
Present data at lab meetings, prepare manuscripts for publication, and present at scientific meetings.
Assist with development of grant proposals, including applicable fellowship award applications.
Perform other duties assigned by the principal investigator.
