Summary of Position
Creations Foods specializes in “Better for You” Gluten Free snacks. The Research and Development (R&D) department is at the heart of what we do. The R&D Manager is responsible for all aspects of new innovation, product development and continuous improvement of the existing product portfolio.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
· Working with cross functional teams and customers in the development of new product formulations and reformulations of existing products, including commercialization.
· Manage a portfolio of high-level product development projects from startup through commercialization.
· Facilitate product development by working with customers and suppliers as well as marketing, quality, and production.
· Support operations through project handoff and during production with formulation issues.
· Plan, manage and oversee all commercial trials.
· Utilize knowledge of current regulations, product formulation, supplier specifications, customer requirements and Company standards to develop and update finished product ingredient statements and nutritional details as defined by regulatory bodies.
· Independently initiates, investigates, and implements significant new process improvements and cost saving projects.
· Coordinate with the Quality Department to comply with HACCP and all Food Safety Programs.
· Work with sourcing and assessing raw material substitutions for usage and formulation consistency as well as potential cost savings.
· Coordinate product tasting and evaluations and provide detailed reports with results and recommendations.
· Stay up to date on new regulations and current events regarding food science by reviewing FDA and USDA regulations.
· Maintaining a clean lab environment.
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
· Master’s or BA degree in Food Science or related field with 2-5 years of relevant work experience. Ideally, experience working on a continuous band oven.
· Candidate should be detail oriented with better than average communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to take initiative and work independently.
· Well organized with the ability to prioritize projects and adapt to changing deadlines.
· Proven ability to apply food science and food engineering principles to solve problems.
· Demonstrated experience in product development and formulation from concept to completion.
· Gluten Free and Plant Based recipe development experience.
· Ability to effectively communicate and interact when working with cross functional teams.
· A working knowledge of Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
