Center Description:
The Center for Urban Population Health (CUPH) is a research and education center of Advocate Aurora Health Care/Advocate Aurora Research Institute, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and is located in the community at Aurora Sinai Medical Center. The CUPH mission is to advance population health research and education to improve the health of urban communities. CUPH facilitates faculty health-related research in the community based on numerous partnerships with community-based organizations and grassroots community stakeholders.
Project: This position is funded by a 5-year grant (2020-2025) under the direction of Dr. Wrenetha Julion at Rush University, in Chicago, IL and Dr. Paul Florsheim at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, in Milwaukee, WI. The goal of the project is to test a Father Inclusive Prenatal Healthcare (FIPH) approach to preparing young men for parenting. The FIPH model is designed to support the development of coparenting relations and fathering skills as part of routine prenatal healthcare (Florsheim & Moore, 2020). The project is being implemented through a large multi-site healthcare center in Chicago that is well positioned to engage young fathers through their prenatal clinics. Outcome measures focus on: (a) relationship/co-parenting skills; (b) parent behavior and role identification; © job stability and financial support for children. All services will be offered in English and Spanish.
Job Summary
General Summary: The Researcher 1 is responsible for collecting information from participants according to the research study protocols. He or she may conduct interviews, epidemiological, social or behavioral assessments, and collect data and/or biological samples from research participants and families in studies.
Work Environment Expectation and Hybrid Work
- Primary work location Chicago, IL, and travel to various clinics within the greater Chicago area
- Travel to Milwaukee, WI if needed
- Remote work when needed
Job Summary
Assists senior research personnel/faculty in all aspects of project evaluation, including participant retention, interviewing and data collection, data management, documentation of research activities, attending meetings, collaborating with other research team members on projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Collects and analyzes basic research data, conducts interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures
- Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities and assists with publications
- Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research area
- Assists with the development of research methodologies and procedures
- Identifies concerns and recommends solutions to leadership
- Working in greater Chicago, IL and travel to site clinics
- Evidence of Excellent interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s degree achieved or expected within one year
- Evidence of attention to detail and accuracy of work
- Evidence of basic computer skills
- Transportation to field location
- Evidence of ability to develop rapport with diverse communities
- Spanish language fluency

- Evidence of proficiency with Microsoft Suite of programs
- Evidence of ability to navigate sensitive topics and maintain confidentiality in work settings
