Residential Counselor Adult - Shelter Plus:

Employees in this position may be eligible for up to $3,000 in grant-funded tuition or loan assistance

Shelter Plus is a co-ed, Permanent Supportive Housing program in Burlington with the capacity to support up to 6 adults with major mental health challenges. This is a single-staffed program. This 40hr/wk position offers a three-day work week (no weekends) with one asleep overnight.

Responsibilities:

  • Help residents strengthen independent living skills through milieu-based and community-based activities
  • Facilitate therapeutic and recreational groups
  • Plan/participate in weekly house meal
  • Provide supportive counseling, medication management, and crisis intervention, as needed
  • Help clients strengthen coping and symptom management skills

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals living with mental health challenges
  • Ability to handle crisis situations, work in a team environment, and maintain respectful relationships is essential

Structure:

  • Full time
  • Non-exempt
  • Union
  • Starting at $20.81 an hour plus shift differentials
  • We offer a competitive salary commensurate to experience
