The Retail Sales Manager provides retail support in bookstore/coffee bar and coordination of dining and catering services in dining services area.
Bookstore Retail – This position is responsible for a variety of tasks that support daily operations in the University bookstore. Duties include stocking, inventory, cashiering, customer service, and the processing of web orders. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including some evening and weekends. (60% of position)

Dining Services & Catering– in Dining Services & Catering this person will work directly with the Food Service Director to execute scheduling and supervision of staff, to collaborate with various constituents and clients in planning events, to include menu planning, ordering, set up, event management, health and safety oversight, tear down, budget management, and customer billing. Position will also assist with deliveries and setups for on campus meetings and gatherings. (40% of position.)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist customers with book and merchandise purchases by a variety of methods (cash, check, credit cards, account sales). Use of computerized POS cash register required. In the absence of the manager, process and balance daily receipts and deposit at the Business Office. Maintain necessary denominations of cash and change.
- Assist customers in locating books and merchandise. Familiarity with bookstore layout necessary. Process special orders, making coffee, and deliveries. Answer telephones and emails. Respond to customer needs and questions in an appropriate manner.
- Assist with daily cleaning duties as needed, to include vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash bins, and the keeping store and office areas tidy.
- Arrange main shopping area on a weekly basis to attractively display clothing items. Ensure store is fully stocked at all times. Communicate any shortage of merchandise immediately to supervisor.
- Process and reconcile web and phone orders daily.
- Check in, secure, scan books and merchandise for correct price and place on the shelves. Store excess supplies in back room area.
List any secondary duties assigned to this position:
- Maintain inventory of bookstore and report discrepancies to Assistant Dean of Retail and Finance as needed. Assist with inventory of all inventory items annually.
- Process returns according to vendor policy.
- Train and assist student staff.
Dining Services & Catering Duties
- Assist the Dining Services Director with scheduling and supervision of staff in the Food Court and at all Dining Services and Catering events.
- Collaborate with the Dining Services Director and the Dining Services team to execute all catering needs, including menu development, ordering, execution, billing, and budget management.
- Promote customer satisfaction with attention to quality throughout, as well as thorough, appropriate, and positive response to stakeholder and participant feedback.
- Assist the Dining Services Director with the cultivation of a work environment that promotes ownership and responsibility.
- Oversee the planning, staffing, and execution of concessions for home football games, collaborating closely with the Dining Services Director and Athletics staff to ensure needs are met.
- Assist with day-to-day tasks, as necessary, to include cashiering, stocking, etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a bookstore or other retail operation
- Experience working with food service or catering
- Experience working on a college campus
- Working knowledge of key software systems, to include Winprism Database and Microsoft Office programs
- TiPS training and certification
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
- Excellent skill in organization, prioritization, and communication

Title IX Coordinator
