Position: Rigger

Location: North Charleston, South Carolina

Pay: Starting at $22-$30/hour.

Based on experience and currently held NCCER certifications.

Previous experience with SHUT DOWNS is STRONGLY preferred.

Essential Functions/Duties: Including but not limited to:

• Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
• Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps.
• Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, and chains to crane hook.
• Give directions to Crane Operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeaker, or radio.
• Signals or gives direction to workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and materials
• Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches.
• Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
• Coordinate the movement of equipment and materials according to visual signals and directions.
• Rate information, using standards that can be measured or checked.
• Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Significant travel may be required. Performs other duties as required.
• Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability before engaging in hoisting and lifting

Basic Requirements & Qualifications: Including but not limited to:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Completed a Rigging course at a technical, trade school or seminar or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
• Utilize basic math to calculate load weights and balance points.
• Must be able to lift 50 pound objects, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
• Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements
