JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, responsible for providing customer service and clerical support to assist insurance program and Risk Management team in servicing Medical Center's insurance and claim needs. Performs routine tasks and problem solving in support of insurance functions. Functional job responsibilities may include: coordinating information flow to resolve insurance, accounting, audit, claims or underwriting questions/issues; verifying, invoice payment and processing of insurance policies, endorsements and/or claims; maintaining database on Medical center's system; processing and revising draft insurance documents and applications; proofreading documents for accuracy and completeness; answering and responding to incoming calls, e-mails and insurance requests; opening, date stamping and processing mail; processing and sorting outgoing mail; administering claim and recall reports; preparing detailed insurance summaries.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of an Associate's Degree required plus two years of being front-line in the insurance industry. Prefer experience in either professional malpractice insurance, professional liability and/or Certificates of Insurance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with securing and review of policies for accuracy and/or possible deficiencies.
- Assists insurance team with assembly of materials, proposals and presentations for Medical Center.
- Establishes and coordinates meetings and presentations.
- Composes correspondence as directed.
- Gathers data, Inputs applications, responds to carrier audits, secures employee reviews as needed for policy compliance and word processes letters, and other forms of correspondence as need for insurance processing.
- Processes and tracks claims and recall events.
- Prepares insurance documents or certificates as directed.
- Inputs information into claim and insurance system and databases.
- Possesses strong EXCEL and PowerPoint skills utilizing formulas and work at a quick, accurate pace while engagement in optimal and appropriate usage of applicable Medical Center systems.
- Receives, analyses and processes Insurance expenses.
- Requests, analyzes and processes professional liability applications and classifications of providers and staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of insurance terminology
- Good customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, spreadsheets and database software
- Good problem solving and time management skills
- Intermediate typing skills
- Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork
