Minimum Qualifications:

Registered Nurse currently licensed in Tennessee

Experience equivalent to one year of registered nursing

Valid Tennessee Driver’s License

Reliable Transportation

Telephone

Excellent communications skills

*Public Health experience preferred but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Plans and provides nursing services in Child Health Clinic according to Public Health Nurse Protocol including routine immunizations for children and adults, travel clinic immunization and counseling, comprehensive health assessments, oral assessment and fluoride varnish.

Collects patient data that is comprehensive and accurate, including: health histories, physical assessment, laboratory tests, growth and development, mental and emotional status, risk factors, family dynamics,and economic, environmental, cultural and religious factors affecting health.

Provide appropriate education and immunizations to patients.

Counsel patient on any Public Health issue such as communicable diseases prevention, spread, treatment, and reporting.

Participates in community programs and health fairs after clinical hours as requested.

6. Other duties as needed as a Registered Nurse 2 in all areas of the Health Department, clinic, or home visits.

7. Is BLS certified and able to perform CPR during an emergency.

Other duties as assigned.

Emergency Preparedness: Respond to and report immediately if called upon as part of a coordinated emergency response by the Department of Health.
