Job Description:

The Intake/Resource Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of intake services to our inpatient Behavioral Health department. This position will provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff; coordinate community outreach and assessment services for the program and help develop strategies that result in meeting program goals. Three years relevant experience preferred.
This position works in conjunction with the department director to for the Behavioral Health department.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and possesses a current WI RN license.

Experience: Three years relevant experience preferred.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides clinical evaluations of prospective patients determining patient's appropriateness for the Inpatient and Phoenix programs.
  • Coordinates the psychiatric assessment process to happen within 24 hours for patients with the attending Psychiatrists. Ensures MD orders are entered appropriately for Phoenix Program patients.
  • Completes insurance authorizations and utilization review for Inpatient patients as required by insurance plans.
  • Maintains contact with personal care homes, nursing homes, medical-surgical units, Emergency Departments, Local Mental Health Clinics and other facilities to promote the program and provide education regarding services available.
  • Provides training and applicable resources to inpatient RNs to ensure streamlined intake processes across all shifts.
  • Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Safely and effectively manages clinical crisis while maintaining self-control in volatile or hostile situations.
  • Develops and maintains referral sources that includes active mailing lists of applicable professionals.
  • Participates in public relations and community education programs that result in media coverage that publicizes the organizations' program. Facilitates community/staff education as requested around mental illness and related topics.
  • Provides support to psychiatry staff coordinating ECT and Phoenix Program patients, including coordination of medication refills and patient appointment forms and workflows. Provides educations to patients receiving ECT treatment and their family/supports. Accompanies patients to ECT treatments.
  • Understands and support the AHC mission, vision, guiding principles and standards of behavior
  • Other related duties and activities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of or experience in mental health or chemical dependency fields
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to workload demands and set priorities
  • Positive, professional presentation
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and develop working relationships
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the program staff
  • Clinical experience sufficient to perform required assessment services
  • Strong organization, service coordination, and communication skills required
