For more than 30 years, Neighborhood Health Center (NHC) has delivered quality healthcare to the communities we serve. NHC is GROWING and actively seeking a Nurse Manager. The Nurse Manager will have responsibilities that include, overseeing and working with nursing supervisors at each site to ensure flow of day and concerns are addressed in a timely manner, forecasting of possible clinical issues or concerns and proactively addressing them to maintain a supportive clinical environment, and working closely with Practice Manager and other departments to assure open communication between nursing and non-clinical staff.
Neighborhood Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). FQHCs are required to comply with the governor's recent mandate requiring hospital and nursing home workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination if an offer of employment is made. The vaccine mandate applies to all personnel employed or affiliated with a covered entity, including volunteers and students. Only a limited medical exemption remains for qualifying individuals.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains nursing staff by participating in recruiting, selecting, orienting and training nursing personnel for site. Reviews and ensures nursing supervisors complete training schedule for new nursing employees for site.
- Maintains nursing accountability through education, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees.
- Must be able to recognize the need for and provide conflict resolution and problem solving
- Works in collaboration with provider scheduler to ensures timely distribution of nursing schedules occur with updates completed as necessary
- Develop and maintain relationships with providers to advocate for the needs of both the providers and nursing teams
- Work within nursing staffing on training opportunities to support patient advocacy and understanding/resolve clinical issues
- With the support of the Chief Clinical Officer, Director of Nursing, Medical Director and Chief Executive Director creates and will hold staff accountable for the highest level of consistency possible within the nursing department and all clinical matters at the site level
- Assures review of nursing guidelines, policies and procedures by nursing staff in collaboration with Director of Nursing
- Ensures compliance of infection control and OSHA policies and procedures in collaboration with the Director of Nursing
- Reviews site audits of CLIA labs, Medication rooms, Autoclave, Clean and Soiled utility room from nursing Supervisors
- Manages all issues related to medical supplies including but not limited to vaccinations including purchasing, appropriate charging for services, handling, storage, training on proper technique, etc.
- Assures all nursing staff are cross trained in more than 1 (one) department to support the needs of various departments
- Maintains skills as Allscripts EHR and PM super user, Azara, Phreesia and Healthelink
- Schedule and assign nursing staff for a smooth start and end of day. Assures proper scheduling is in place within the clinical area by reviewing staffing to providers per session. Proficiency in reading and interpreting 3rd next available appointment report with ability to communicate to the team recommendations and trends.
- Assures nursing and clinical staff understand and abide by patient scheduling protocols including expertise in open-access scheduling
- Coordinates clinical and non-clinical staff activities to create a high quality, efficient, compassionate experience for every patient
- Maintains and reports monthly on: department/organizational goals & meaningful nursing metrics. Completes 30/60/90 day reviews within the outlined timeframe for nursing supervisors.
- Supervises and assists in the development of staff through daily feedback and timely completion of performance appraisals
- Develops and provides a monthly nursing report to the Director of Nursing and Chief Clinical Officer
- Works collaboratively on Clinical Quality Assurance activities and assists the Director of Nursing, Chief Clinical Officer and Medical Directors in QA Committee work
- Contributes to agency effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action and implementing directives
- Assists in development of annual budgets for nursing and non-clinical departments
- Must be able to maintain good working relationships with staff and medical personnel
- Attends in-services and trainings or other required meetings to enhance professional growth and development through education programs
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must possess, minimally, a BS in nursing; Masters preferred
- Must hold a current New York State licenses as a registered nurse
- Must maintain a current basic life support certification
- Minimally 3 years clinical/nursing management/supervision experience; physician office/practice preferred
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. A second language of Spanish preferred
