Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest – Waco General Medical Surgical has a 24-bed unit that specializes in post operative care for gastrointestinal, urology, neurological, and surgical oncology patients. We see a multitude of different procedures and skills daily such as: indwelling foleys, drains, ostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, PICC lines, NG tubes, wound vacs etc. Our team consists of nurses who have been with us from 1 year all the way to 20+ years. Our unit is a great place to learn time management skills that will help for your entire nursing career. We offer many opportunities for growth and education within the department and hospital such as preceptorship for students, clinical coaching for new hires, becoming charge capable, and becoming unit champions for specific skills, along with leadership opportunities. We are a fast-paced unit that depends on team work to provide safe and efficient care to our patients. We collaborate closely with other departments such as PACU, Physical Therapy, Case Management, etc. The culture of teamwork that we strive for on the 5th floor is frequently recognized by others throughout the facility

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of RN School of Nursing
• ADN required
• Active RN License
• Minimum of 6 Months of RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
