WHAT TO EXPECT

Initially located in our Elizabethtown, KY facility, you will be a Rubber Compound/Urethane Chemist supporting employees and leaders at the site in various functions and for all shifts. This role will require doing a rotation in our Columbia, MO facility in addition to working in the Elizabethtown facility.

The Rubber Compounder/ Urethane Chemist is responsible for technical support provided to milling and formulation operations. Milling support includes providing guidance to mixing, extrusion and calendaring operations. Formulation support includes development and sustaining of cast polyurethane elastomers. The Compounder / Chemist will act as a liaison between production and R&D to effectively manage trials through the manufacturing process. They will lead the lab to ensure quality of the compounds and formulations used in production of elastomer composites.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Development and fast turnaround of rubber and polyurethane elastomers for a variety of markets and applications.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications.
  • Analysis of failures from failed rubber production batches and customer returns including troubleshooting of manufacturing processes and methods
  • Analytical testing of elastomer products
  • Analysis and interpretation of test data
  • Completion of process documentation: milling and formulation procedures; formulation specifications; quality control testing.
  • Evaluation of findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes
  • Preparation of technical reports for use by engineering, management and sales
  • Process troubleshooting, production and quality support



ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum of A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or other related engineering field.
  • At least five years' industrial experience in Milling and/or Formulations support
  • Project management experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little direction
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently
  • Must be willing to travel as needed
  • Must be willing and able to relocate to another facility
