Safety and Waste Coordinator role is to organize and promote a safe working environment that aligns with Gowan’s goals as well as making sure to stay up to date with rules and regulations pertaining to safety and waste in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Job Responsibilities

    • Duties include but not limited to the following:
    • Primary authorized official for submitting EPA’s yearly production reports (Section Seven Tracking System (SSTS)) by CDX on behalf of Gowan and certain Gowan entities
    • ADEQ yearly registration and generation waste reports from FDC
    • Staying current with rules and regulation pertaining to Safety and waste, and ensure operational compliance with all state and federal environmental regulations
    • Coordinate manifest, ship and track all hazardous and non-hazardous waste that is generated and shipped from the FDC facility.
    • Provide supervision and guidance to department employees and evaluate and promote safe working procedures.
    • Prioritizing waste collection and lab processing operations and maintain
    • Proficiency in proper waste labeling, housekeeping or any number of jobs other than what is described in this basic classification.
    • Operate forklift and other equipment not listed
    • Maintain Safety documents and records in accordance with HIPPA compliance standards for FDC personnel as well as the custodial staff and other non FDC personnel with access to the facility
    • Manage contractors and their safety compliance. Contractors include but not limited to: Hansberger, Holbrook electric, area pluming, and sun power pluming
    • investigate causes of incidents to identify preventative safety measures.
    • Conduct safety inspections

Qualifications:

    • Qualifications to include but not limited to the following:
    • Maintain certifications of DOT Hazardous training and RCRA Hazardous waste management training or equivalents
    • Maintain Forklift codifications
    • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment when required which would include but not limited to, half face respirator, full-face respirator, Tyvek, grounding straps, eye protection.
    • Capable of following written and verbal work instructions.
    • Possess a working knowledge of math and communication skills as it pertains to assigned tasks.
    • Strong people skills and an ability and willingness to interact with all levels of management and staff.
    • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work independently.
    • Possess thorough knowledge of responsibilities from prior work experience or continued education.
    • Possess a working knowledge of current company policy regarding safety, environmental and quality systems.

Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to operate forklifts when needed.
    • Ability to ascend/descend stairs in buildings.
    • Requires ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
    • Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, pulling, and pushing.
    • Ability to work outdoors throughout the year in extreme temperatures.
    • Possess a valid driver’s license.
