Safety Coordinator Job at Rubicon

Who we need: The Field Safety Coordinator is a health and safety professional who provides site safety leadership and monitors the work activity of Rubicon Contractors employees at locations/jobsites for compliance with governmental regulations (OSHA/MSHA), as well as Rubicon Contractors policies and procedures. The prospective candidate should have a working knowledge of all applicable regulatory standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
- 3-5 years of progressive health and safety field experience is required for this position.
- Prospective candidates preferably possess an associate degree in occupational health and safety OR a related field OR a nationally recognized certificate in safety training (STSC, CHST, etc.).
- Ability to build trust and confidence with the management team.
- Strategic thinking and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable regulation (OSHA, MSHA).
- OSHA 30 preferred.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field-level risk assessments to determine how risk could be reduced or eliminated.
- Conduct job observations and providing feedback to employees on performance with corrective action if warranted.
- Conduct site inspections to observe compliance with all federal, state and company policies.
- Conduct incident investigations to establish root cause and corrective actions to eliminate future recurrence.
- Prepare health and safety strategies that enhance workplace safety and health.
- Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce workplace hazards, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
- Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe culture that benefits employees both on and off the job.
- Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as OSHA/MSHA regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and proper use of safety equipment.
- Perform safety audits and facility audits; inspect machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, to ensure safety regulation compliance. To be a team member and to actively assist field personnel in resolving work place safety issues.
- Investigate industrial accidents, near miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine cause and install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities and provide all case management associated with the incident.
- Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
- Coordinate employee safety programs to determine their effectiveness including a review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development.
- Work within company policy as outlined in the Sure Steel Environmental and Safety Manual, Employee Handbook and in compliance with the Sure Steel policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Manage New Hire Orientation.
Requirements:
- Working schedule is typically 10 hours per day, 5-6 days per week. Must have open availability any day of the week.
- Travel from project to project as assigned.
- Train employees on safety regulations, company policies, and best practices.
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
Experience:
- Construction Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- safety coordinator: 3 years (Preferred)
- Wage: depends on experience (TBD).

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
