Safety Coordinator - Large Commercial Project Job at American National Insulation
Looking for a Safety Coordinator to oversee a large commercial project. Your day starts at 6:00 am and you will be responsible for enforcement and adherence to all Federal and State laws and regulations governing the health and safety of workers and responsible for adherence to all corporate policies, procedures, goals and objectives on this project.
CHST Credential) Construction Health & Safety Technician –Certificate Preferred and or working towards credential obtainment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Knowledgeable in OSHA regulations and assures compliance with OSHA construction safety and health standard requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret OSHA -Code of Federal Regulations (CFR’s).
- Knowledgeable in Building Code regulations.
- Responsible for managing OSHA inspections and tracks paperwork.
- Understand potential job hazards and how to eliminate them.
- Ability to order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers’ health and safety.
- Conduct or assist with regular job site safety / health inspections and Job Safety Analysis.
- Establish safety and health procedures and performs site inspections.
- Prepares and distributes reports.
- Inspects and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and governmental regulations.
- Recommends measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes or materials.
- Tracks paperwork. Conduct or assist with Tool Box Talks or Five Minute Safety Talks. Publishes meeting minutes to office and field personnel. Demonstrates the proper use of safety equipment.
- Provides new-employee health and safety orientations, and develops materials for orientations. Tracks paperwork.
- Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Participates in accident investigations and implementation of corrective actions. Investigates accidents and near-misses to identify causes to determine root cause and identify prevention measures. Reports accidents to appropriate insurance carrier. Follows up with injured employees. Manages light duty for injured employees.
- Maintains documentation of training, inspections, injuries and illnesses, and other safety records and programs.
- Any other duty, task or responsibility as assigned
Supervisory or Management Responsibility – Has the authority to direct the employee’s daily work activities related to safety. Has authority to recommend the following employment actions; hiring, termination and corrective action.
Independence of Action – Sets goals and priorities for functional area. May make recommendations for department policies, practices and programs.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Minimum Degree: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Course of study: Special Certification or Licensing: Obtain training in the OSHA 300 Recordkeeping procedures and document completion.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Must be able to obtain MCS/MVR approval and PACE certification.
- Obtain Forklift certification
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum experience: 3 years of construction experience.
- Required Industry Experience (Construction, Insulation, Trades, etc.): 3 years
- Must be detail oriented, excellent communicator, highly organized
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to perform complex mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide, unit of measure, volume and area).
- Proficient in Office Software like word processing, and spreadsheets
- Knowledgeable of ERP applications (preferably Oracle).
- Requires self-management and project management ability
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Type of Travel Required: Regional
- Amount of Travel Required: < 50%
- Need to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Travel as requested.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is performed in a typical office environment and on projects and may require standing, bending, lifting of boxes and packages under 10 lbs.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer, analyzing, organizing and deciphering information.
- Ability to sand for long periods of time as required.
- Ability to drive a vehicle.
- Move safely over uneven terrain.
- Determine appropriate responses to safety situations.
- Recognize, communicate, and convey accurate information through verbal or written communication.
- Assess safety situation(s) and determine appropriate course of action.
