We are currently searching for a Safety Technician to join our team at our Osceola, IA facility.
The Safety Technician will develop and implement all aspects of the safety plan at the Osceola, Iowa facility.

The Safety Technician will develop and implement all aspects of the safety plan at the Osceola, Iowa facility.
Essential Job Functions
- Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
- Overtime is a mandatory condition of employment and frequent in this position.
- Support the Osceola, Iowa facility, providing compliance guidance regarding Iowa OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Recommend measures to protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or equipment.
- Train employees on all necessary environmental, health & safety programs.
- Assist and participate in the development of orientation of new hires.
- Coordinate and facilitates meetings and activities as necessary.
- Organize and maintain safety records such as annual training logs for all required OSHA, EPA and D.O.T. training.
- Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety and health programs, trainings, and plans.
- Coordinate with corporate safety leadership to ensure consistency w/Springfield operations.
- Assist in the of review new equipment documentation including new and test chemical information prior to use in the plant. Participate/lead the evaluation of new equipment work instructions and LOTO to ensure procedures are complete and safe.
- Conduct periodic safety and health walk-through inspections of all workplace facilities.
- Co-lead the Safety Action Team activities
- Exercise oversight and participate in the investigation process of all injury/illness and non-injury incidents to determine root-causes and follow-up as necessary.
- Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety and health programs and plans.
- Take part in regular facility inspections such as Safety and Housekeeping audits.
- Develop and maintain training and record keeping for PIV and crane/hoist certifications.
- Coordinate with vendors for services. Examples: Annual audiogram testing, fire extinguisher training, environmental testing, etc.
- Attend and contribute to open book management – attend weekly huddles, forecast numbers if applicable.
- Additional duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Competencies)
- Able to make judgments and decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to develop and execute effective safety training.
- Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Must be able to solve complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- High level of energy and motivation.
- Must have the ability to multitask and address the most critical/pressing demands first.
- Ability to expand personal competencies and capabilities through training and education.
- Must follow safety standards (lead by example). Required to wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
Education and Experience
- First Aid and CPR Certified
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- BS/BA Degree in Safety Management, Risk Management, Human Resources, related field or equivalent work experience.
