GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety, Wellness, and Security Manager is accountable for creating policies for a safe and secure work environment, as well as ensuring that the company complies with all applicable safety regulations within all of its divisions and at all of its facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KRA (Key Result Areas):
> Safety/Culture
- Continuously maintains Orenco Management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
- Promotes, encourages, and reinforces a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment to all employees.
> Compliance
- Plans, implements, and conducts company wide preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborates with others to develop and implement compliance plans and safety programs and initiatives applicable to the division.
- Conducts audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety programs and government guidelines and regulations, evaluates performance, identifies corrective action, and implements follow up assessments.
- Provides regular reports to division presidents and applicable managers.
- Maintains familiarity with Fed-OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration), OR-OSHA, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), and other applicable safety laws and regulations, as well as state and local fire codes, and keeps abreast of changes that may impact the company.
- Audits SOP's/Mops (standard operating procedures/machine operating procedures) to ensure that a hazard analysis has been completed on all new and used manufacturing equipment.
- Administers training for fall protection program to ensure all employees are inspecting appropriate equipment.
- Oversees compliance programs such as LOTO (lockout tagout), Hazard Communications, EAP (Employee Assistance Program), Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Respiratory Protection, BBP (Bloodborne pathogen), etc.
> Response
- Serves as the primary contact for injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
- Provides first aid if necessary.
- Investigates near misses, incidents, accidents, and property damages to discover root causes.
- Manages all workers compensation claims, including the OSHA300 log and all other documentation.
- Assures employees are treated for injuries.
- Manages light duty work for injured employees as directed by medical professionals.
> Wellness
Prevention
- Manages wellness programs to provide employees with ideas and opportunities to have a healthier live both at work and at home.
- Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
- Works with production management to develop JHA (Job Hazard Analyses).
- Evaluates PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and ensures its proper use and maintenance.
- Oversees behavior-based/observations safety and ergonomic programs.
> Security
- Oversees the planning, implementation, management, and maintenance of comprehensive security programs at all company premises.
- Negotiates contracts with third party security vendors.
> Risk Mitigation
- Evaluates practices, procedures, equipment, machinery, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to government guidelines, regulation, and best practices.
- Oversees employee efforts to identify and correct near misses.
- Collaborates with management to develop and implement risk mitigation efforts.
- Collaborates with management to develop emergency action plans and leads the company's emergency response team.
- Serves as the primary contact for disasters and emergency services.
> Leadership
- Attends monthly SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) Alliance meetings and similar functions.
- Directs and conducts meetings of the company's safety committee and any of its subcommittees.
- Supervises department staff.
> Work is to be done during manufacturing business hours, which may include an occasional early and/or later shift as needed. Occasional long hours may be required.
> Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
> Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
BA/BS degree is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for safety, wellness, and/or security programs.
- Completion of initial 8-hour Emergency Response & HW (HazWopper) Operations level training is required. Completion of the annual Eight-hour HazWopper-Operations Level training is required thereafter. Training description: Emergency communication, alarms and evacuation routes, contingency plan implementation/emergency response procedures, emergency equipment use and inspection, incident response (fire, explosion, soil, and water contamination), and site shut down procedures
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to be on call or work off hours as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Superior analytical/problem solving, written and verbal communications.
- Experience working with state and local regulatory agencies preferred.
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to priority changes with little notice and to remain calm during confrontational or high-pressure situations.
- Ability to use sound judgement and follow-through in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
- Must have satisfactory driving record, maintain valid driver's license, and current insurance on personal vehicle if used for business. Must meet company insurability requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment and indoor and outdoor manufacturing production environments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regular job duties include seeing, speaking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, periods of sitting including time viewing a computer screen. Time on manufacturing floor includes prolonged periods of standing and walking on concrete floors, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, measuring, cutting, stacking, bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, repetitive foot and hand movement with good manual dexterity. Duties may require unassisted lifting of up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 70 lbs., lifting over 70 lbs. must be assisted. Occasional operation of a motor vehicle.
