Sanitation Supervisor
The Sanitation Supervisor position ensures the development, compliance, and overall sanitation and pest control program at the plant level to assure food safety and consistent quality of all food products.
Ways you will make a difference
Responsibilities:
- Directs crew of up to 20 hourly sanitation and facility maintenance employees.
- Maintains master sanitation schedule.
- Maintains and writes detailed standard operating procedures for cleaning of equipment.
- Coordinates clean up (monthly and product changeovers), which requires identification of equipment to be cleaned, phasing of cleaning, and number of individuals required to clean.
- Conducts clean up inspections and validations of allergen cleanings using swabs and/or samples collected for analysis; Communicates results.
- Collects environmental samples for monitoring of pathogenic organisms in plant; Monitors and charts results; Conducts additional Microbiological testing as needed.
- Assigns plant wide sanitation areas of responsibility to all supervisors.
- Serves as a member of the Food Safety Committee.
- Completes monthly plant sanitation audits including scoring for designated areas (Processing, Packing, Warehouse).
- Directs pest /dust services to assure compliance to all EPA and FDA regulations.
- Conducts mandated plant wide GMP training for all employees.
- Coordinates and prepares plant for third party GMP audits yearly (AIB).
- Interfaces with vendors for cost savings, ordering departmental supplies, and arranging special services in plant (pesticide applications, contracted cleaning and painting, carpet cleaning, new dust collection filter technologies, etc).
- Coordinates and documents Zero Waste management activities.
- Participates as a trainer during quarterly training
Skills that will make you successful
- Personal computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem solving, negotiating, and decision making skills.
- Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
- Knowledge of pest control habits and possess the ability to identify pests.
- This role involves extensive walking throughout the plant and plant grounds, climbing stairs/ladders, squatting, etc. to complete sanitation inspections.
Experiences that will support your success
- High School Diploma or GED plus a minimum of seven years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Quality, Business, Chemistry, or a related field plus a minimum of three years of experience is required.
- Knowledge of USDA and FDA Inspection Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Food/beverage/pharmaceutical manufacturing experience with focus on sanitation and product safety is preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Certification in Pesticide Application is highly preferred
