Peraton has an exciting opportunity for cleared, driven Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Engineers to support the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Secure Communications Operations and Maintenance (GMD SCOM) contract located at Fort Greely, Alaska to support our mission critical customer. Be part of a mission critical team that operates and maintains the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) Terminals, C-Band COMSAT terminals and related Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) equipment in support of Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) Missions

The Satellite Communications Engineers will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
  • Perform Operations and Maintenance (O&M) on SATCOM equipment to include replacement of circuit cards or major subassemblies and perform MILSTAR O&M.
  • Perform component level work (down to the lowest replaceable unit (LRU)) as necessary.
  • Perform all Operations and Maintenance (O&M) actions IAW all Technical Manuals and maintain a Master Station Log IAW DISA Circular 310-D70-30, chapter 12.
  • Perform Crypto device updates and perform CRO duties.
  • Operate and maintain GT3CS terminals.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance and perform Operator Maintenance on HVAC, Generator, and assist with HEMP Power System (HPS) maintenance.
  • Maintain Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
  • Perform ancillary training tasks.
  • Perform analysis of SATCOM equipment performance and assess potential impacts to system Ao and Ro and participate in engineering solutions for new equipment installations, surveys, and site surveys.
  • Maintain technical drawings and circuit drawings and assist the Node Site Coordinator with circuit drawings and SAAs and perform DRSN O&M when needed and perform other duties assigned by the MILSATCOM supervisor.
**The position shall provide support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; including rotating 12-hour shifts, as directed by the customer. Minimal travel (<10%) is expected.**
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Active/current Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree and two (2+) years of experience; Master’s Degree and no years of experience; Associates Degree and four (4+) years of experience; High School Diploma/GED and eight (8+) years of experience
  • Graduate of a Satellite Communications Military Technical Training Course or MILSTAR Military Technical Training Course or both, and six (6+) years of experience
  • Current IAT Level II certification (i.e. Sec+ certification with continuing education). with continuing education; if selected for this position and candidate does not have Security+, Peraton will send candidate to a bootcamp for Security+ and pay for successful completion (passing) of the exam
  • Be willing to work shifts

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and four (4+) years of experience; Master’s Degree and two (2+) years of experience; Associates Degree and six 6+ years of experience; High School Diploma/GED and (10+) years of experience
  • Have two (2) - four (4) years’ experience working hands on with a SATCOM (preferably a 52 or MET and MILSTAR)
  • Have two (2) - four (4) years’ experiences in SATCOM working on C-Band terminals
  • Computing Environment Certification: Linux and Windows Computing Environment certification is a plus
  • Sufficient knowledge of SATCOM theory and industry standards
  • Sufficient knowledge of SATCOM system equipment maintenance procedures, policies, and requirements for SATCOM terminals outside the prescribed assets mentioned in the job req.
  • Knowledge of DISA Pacific practices and policies
