New Heights Charter School is Massachusetts only public school that involves all grades (6-12) in the Early College approach. Nearly all of our 11th and 12th graders are full-time students on a college campus with younger students earning college credits at the school. You will join a committed, creative team of educators who provide academic and social-emotional support to young people coming from high-need backgrounds ensuring they are college and career ready. We support our staff with a wide array of professional development opportunities and coaching. As a teacher or staff member, you will have the opportunity to join in the development and fine tuning of our curriculum, school policies, and enrichment activities. At New Heights, we respect and honor all community members, their diverse backgrounds, knowledge, and experiences. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Direct Services to Students
    • Provide counseling to designated students per Individual Education Plans
    • Attend and participate in IEP and 504 meetings
    • Complete Bio-psycho-social assessments, as needed
    • Complete FBA/Home Assessment reports (as needed for SpEd referrals)
    • Attend student support team meetings and court intervention, as needed
    • Assist in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies.
    • Assist with crisis intervention, as needed
    • Individual/group counseling of general education students, as needed
    Family Services
    • Maintain regular communication with parents of students on IEP caseload
    • Contact families of regular education students, as needed
    • Complete referrals for community- based services for families, as needed
    School Wide Programming
    • Work in conjunction with the Principal to develop and implement school-based programs, services, and/or initiatives to address student needs (i.e., social/emotional student groups)
    • Provide individual and/or group counseling in response to school-wide crisis
    Documentation
    • Document contact with parents and students in accordance with New Heights Charter Schools documentation protocol
    • Maintain updated IEP goals and progress notes
    • Other duties as assigned
