Charter One is currently accepting applications for a Science Curriculum Specialist for our district office in Mesa, Arizona. Candidates must be have or be willing to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.


Position Summary


With a deep understanding of State Standards (including, but not limited to Arizona, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina) and curriculum and instruction best practices, the Curriculum Specialist provides centralized curriculum support through the development of curriculum maps, pacing guides, instructional support resources, and intervention and enrichment resources. The Curriculum Specialist will proactively review school data and curriculum alignment to State Standards, and provide research and recommendations for further curriculum development. The Curriculum Specialist will also coordinate all processes related to testing services and supervise Testing Proctors. In addition, the Curriculum Specialist will ensure all test publisher procedure/policies are followed, all staff are credentialed and trained, and all testing is conducted in a clean, comfortable, honorable testing environment. This position requires a variable schedule including night and weekend hours as well as travel to all Charter One Southeast locations.


Job Duties


  • Collaborate with Directors of Academics and Professional Development Manager to determine curriculum needs.
  • Stay apprised of State Standards for all schools managed by Charter One.
  • Develop, review, and maintain curriculum maps and pacing guides for all schools managed by Charter One.
  • Ensure all curriculum is aligned to State Standards.
  • Use benchmark data and State Assessment data to support curriculum resource review and revision.
  • Provide curriculum support to Campus Administrators and Instructional Coaches as needed.
  • Ensure all curriculum resources are organized and available for implementation.
  • Collaborate with the Directors of Academics and Professional Development Manager to develop curriculum training as needed.
  • Establish and lead a Curriculum Study Team (CST) to review and revise State Standards and curriculum map alignment, at least once per year. Make revisions as needed.
  • Obtain all test publisher credentials at the coordinator/proctor level or above (renew as required)
  • Participate in regular training to ensure consistent adherence to test publisher policies
  • Setup and maintain testing availability through various testing appointment systems
  • Coordinate and supervise Testing Proctors to ensure coverage of all scheduled test sessions
  • Conduct regular training with all staff that assist with testing services
  • Extract and compile Board Report data for testing services
  • Monitor testing units and place orders to replenish test units and supplies as needed
  • Update various software as needed
  • Work closely with Disability Services to ensure testing accommodations may be provided
  • Manage all request for testing services
  • Maintain a written operations manual that documents and standardizes practices for testing services include frequently asked questions section
  • Address and resolve any testing service issues or complaints
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Administer placement tests, health admissions tests, make-up instructor, distance learning, and other tests as requested by Charter One
  • Ensure that all tests are proctored according to test publisher or instructor guidelines
  • Be familiar with and enforce testing procedures
  • Take disciplinary action in the event of student misconduct and report any irregularities in the testing process to the designated person/entity
  • Ensure test security by returning or securing testing materials after test completion as instructed on the test proctoring form
  • Accurately enter test scores into the Student Management and/or Document Imaging Systems
  • Assist with testing on other campus and off-site locations as needed
  • Process request for transfer of test scores to other entities
  • Monitor incoming Exam Proctoring forms for accuracy and/or scheduling conflicts following up with the requestor as necessary
  • Monitor all appointment systems to ensure all testing information is available at least twenty-four hours before scheduled test
  • Ensure processes and communication establish a tranquil testing process for all testers
  • Ensure all testers receive the appropriate testing accommodations as instructed by the Instructor or Disability Services
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records in accordance with FERPA

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in statistics, analytics, assessment or related area
  • Understanding of State Standards and curriculum best practices.
  • Supervisory Experience, minimum one year full-time or equivalent part-time


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction
  • Deep understanding of State Standards and best practices
  • Deep understanding of Charter One curriculum
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites
  • Bilingual
  • Testing/Assessment Experience, minimum one year full-time or equivalent part-time
