Description / Position Overview

Museum Support Staff (PT Administrative Support)
In this position, you will assist the customer service side of museum operations by supporting the CSPM Visitor Services Specialists and the Event Coordinator.

This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).

The average work hours per month is estimated to be 8-16 hours. Opportunities to work additional hours throughout the year will be available. The work schedule will vary based on department needs but will most likely be Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
Typical Responsibilities:


  • Ensure opening and closing procedures are being followed
  • Provide excellent customer service for all visitors and event attendees
  • Support event and program set-up/tear-down of equipment
  • Perform light maintenance and janitorial duties including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, monitoring bathroom cleanliness and provisions, monitoring garbage receptacles, and changing
  • Assist vendors with deliveries to the museum (catering, flowers, rental equipment, etc.)
  • Monitor programs and events to ensure that CSPM and City of Colorado Springs rules and regulations are being followed.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge of:
  • Good organizational and time-keeping skills, self-motivation and flexibility
  • Modern office technology
  • Proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Knowledge of Adobe software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Comply with pertinent City and division policies and procedures
  • Stand up for long periods of time (up to 8 hours), walk, climb stairs, bend and lift up to 55 pounds.

Successful candidates will have

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • One year of experience in customer service or security

Additional Information

The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
