Responsibilities
-
Identifies truck problems and services by listening to customer’s description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; taking test drives; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules
-
Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers; explaining provisions and exclusions
-
Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, labor; and calculating customer’s payment, including deductibles
-
Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system
-
Maintains truck records by recording problems and corrective actions planned
-
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers’ publications
-
Assists parts department in getting parts for technicians in the shop
-
Schedule jobs and Maintain adequate work flow for technicians
-
Communicate effectively with other shifts to run workflow efficiently
-
Ensure that all work is completed expertly and meets quality standards
-
Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer happiness
-
Fill out Idealease contracts
-
Must display a positive and friendly attitude as well as appropriate behavior during work hours
-
Cleanliness must be maintained in the work area
Qualifications
-
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers, co-workers, and general public
-
Must possess the ability to be adaptable and willing to perform assignments beyond normal duties when asked
-
Must possess the ability to follow instructions and to accept constructive feedback
-
Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
-
Must have strong leadership, interpersonal, math, and writing skills
-
Must have the ability to prioritize work in a dynamic environment
-
High school diploma or GED equivalent
-
Computer skills using ADP Dealer Management system and various OEM inventory catalogue programs preferred
-
Supervisory experience preferred
-
1 year Heavy Duty Truck experience preferred
-
1 year service writing experience preferred
-
ASE and CDL certification preferred
