This is a 214 day contract with 9 paid holidays.
Work hours are 7:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. - including a half hour unpaid lunch break.
Rate of pay is $17.76 per hour.

TITLE: ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SECRETARY - PRINCIPAL
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
General secretarial, receptionist, and office procedure duties, i.e., answer telephone, operate intercom, handle
question/messages, responsible for lunch count, selling supplies.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and hours to be established by the board
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal, Director of Business Operations, Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS:

Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record.
High degree of proficiency in office procedures, typing, computer programs, and machines, oral and written communication.
Professional tact, diplomacy, and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents, and the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.
Maintains respect at all times for confidential information.
2.
Performs duties of receptionist while maintaining a pleasant attitude; receives telephone calls, responds appropriately and correctly, and makes proper disposition of such.
3.
Effectively operates various office machines including computers for data entry, etc.
4.
Types schedules, newsletters, grade cards; responsible for transcribing and typing correspondence, reports, charts, student records, etc..
5.
Arranges/records appointments for the principal and other staff if necessary.
6.
Conducts important contacts with the public/community and others requiring tact and diplomacy.
7.
Assists in dispensing supplies to staff. Maintain stock of supplies-ordering when necessary.
8.
Sorts and distributes incoming and/or daily mail.
9.
Assists with attendance records; weekly and grading period totals; yearly reports.
10.
Student records: maintain current student files, current student index card system; includes transfers and withdrawal students, enter student data related to EMIS, generate student reports. Maintain log of student absences and parental contact.
11.
Responsible for maintenance of up-to-date federal lunch records - student eligibility information/records. Supply cafeteria with current list of eligible students in home rooms. Call in daily lunch count.
12.
Makes additions and deletions for enrollment records.
13.
Handles and prepares building permits.
14.
Processes correspondence for principal.
15.
Handles illnesses and injuries of students in the absence of the nurse.
16.
Prepares book orders and supply orders for teachers.
17.
Prepares programs for special events.
18.
Maintains a pleasant environment in the office area at all times.
19.
Assists with completion of purchase requisitions.
20.
Serves as clerk-custodian of monies received and expended, make deposits, check bank statements and send monthly reports to the central office. Maintains office records and reports which complement the current bookkeeping procedure.
21.
Administers medication in accordance with school policies. Maintains date and dosage records for these students. Handles first aid in absence of the school nurse. Maintains injury log.

Transports students in emergency cases.
23.
Makes building announcements when necessary.
24.
Assists building staff as needed.
25.
Keeps accurate account of staff absences/requesting substitutes/assuring completion of proper paperwork.
26.
Coordinate and input of all educational management information system data for Department of Education.
27.
Maintains school financial records and individual teacher accounts. Coordination of school fund- raiser/maintain financial records/handle bank deposits.
28.
Maintains petty cash fund.
29.
Coordinates school photographs/prepare student lists for photographer/deliver photos to students/place photographs on proper records.

2. Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
3. Performs other duties related to the secretary’s duties as assigned by the building principal.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
