Senior Accountant Job at Great Southern Homes
Overview
The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant is to prepare and perform monthly close of books and work closely with the Controller so that all accounting and finance operations of the company are presented in a timely manner and in accordance with GAAP.
Essential Functions
Primary responsibilities of the Senior Accountant include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
- Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries
- Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss, and other statements
- Complete external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors
- Avoid legal challenges by complying with legal requirements
- Secure financial information by completing database backups
- Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA license preferred
- 5-10 years of related accounting experience with strong accounting principles
- Previous experience with a publicly traded company required
- Homebuilding experience a plus
- Prior experience with financial reporting requirements
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Highly proficient in MS Excel - including pivot tables
- Strong analytical skills
- Effective time management
- Highly motivated and detail-oriented
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
