Job Title: Senior Accountant

Department: Finance

Reports To: Financial Reporting Manager

Status: Exempt


Primary Objective:
Responsible for preparing the monthly internal financial statements, including preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.


Essential Functions:

  • Prepares month-end consolidated financial statements, including journal entries, and conducting complex general ledger account reconciliations for multiple entities within the organization.
  • Analyzes and reconciles more complex balance sheet accounts, which includes identifying and resolving discrepant items, and researching with applicable stakeholders.
  • Assists departments with financial statement related questions.
  • Assists with state and local tax filings as well as other miscellaneous financial reporting requirements.
  • Contributes to audit preparation by providing requested documentation and analysis.
  • Prepares schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting both internally and externally.
  • Proactively identifies and implements process improvements.
  • Supports and assists accounting team.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.


Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and 10-key data entry. Knowledge of Epicor, SAP Concur (Travel, Expense, Request & Invoice), and/or Workday Adaptive preferred.
  • Firm understanding of how to apply GAAP to General Ledger accounting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all functional areas (revenue, A/R, A/P).
  • Competent in required job skills and knowledge. Completes work assignments thoroughly and completely in an accurate, and prompt. Identifies and corrects errors. Is careful, alert and accurate, paying attention to details of the job.
  • Demonstrates through actions and interactions with others a commitment to Mariners Purpose, Mission and Values.
  • Makes decisions and takes actions that contribute to exceptional experiences for guests.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience required.
  • CPA certification required, or in-process.
