Job Title: Senior Buyer
Department: Purchasing
Reports To: Purchasing Manager, General Manager

Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is for the planning, organizing and supervising the comprehensive purchasing process for any need in the organization while assisting the Purchasing Manager. This person will be searching and negotiating for the best pricing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and third party businesses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This list is not comprehensive but meant to represent the most common or important duties of the position. Other duties are required and/or assigned
- Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list.
- Maintains available inventory items by verifying stock and scheduling delivery consistent targeted inventory goals as set by management.
- Generates purchase orders to suppliers by verifying specifications and price, monitoring and expediting orders, as well as negotiating best supplier terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
- Act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement related questions and concerns.
- Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered and resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
- Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, and support. When needed: issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Keeps information accessible by maintaining accuracy of part numbers within the company’s ERP system, including lead-time, pricing, current supplier information, etc.
- Maintaining current inventory as well as planning and forecasting for the future
- Evaluate new and existing suppliers based on price and level of service and quality
- Initiate surveys of suppliers with Q.A. and follow-up corrective actions.
- Calculate and maintain performance ratings of suppliers according to procedures.
- Have a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased.

Required Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Self-starter with quick learning capabilities
- Skilled in the use of computers and adapts to new technology in a timely manner
- Generates new ideas and innovation for the purchasing department
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- An understanding of contract negotiation/ bidding process
- Business acumen with demonstrated leadership abilities
Preferred Requirements:
- 3+ of purchasing experience
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret purchasing process, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, venders and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Maintains a valid Driver’s License.

Physical: Must be able to lift 20 lbs of force occasionally and or negligible amount of force to move, kneel, reach, push, pull or lift objects for periods of time. Must be verbally communicate for hours at a time, use computer equipment. Moderate noise level and limited exposure to physical risk.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Knowledge of modern business communication, office procedures and methods. Skill to use a personal computer and various software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork.
