RESPONSIBILITIES

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the training programs, health and safety of the facility workforce by monitoring and evaluating health and safety conditions; assuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures and governmental standards; and maintain Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene and Safety Programs for the facility. Supports the environmental management system (ISO-14001). Responsible for wastewater sampling and reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental, health, safety, security and sustainability activities to comply with all applicable local, state and federal regulations and Bridgestone corporate EHS policies, to prevent injuries to employees and negative impact to the environment.
  • Partner with department heads to ensure proper EHS protocols, plans and initiatives are in place and consistently followed.
  • Ensure all applicable laws and regulations are tracked and that necessary action is taken to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure maintenance of EHS management information systems and documentation.
  • Successfully lead, manage and execute EHS initiatives including policies, procedures, programs and regulations and compliance systems with the overall drive of continuous improvement.
  • Identify and analyze organizational risk and have the ability to develop and implement programs to mitigate these risks and achieve desired results.
  • Development and execution of strategic plans to improve EHS performance.
  • Achieve Safety vision through management commitment, employee involvement and training.
  • Ability to train and certify powered industrial trucks.
  • Develop and maintain a written inspection and auditing program for the facility (as developed through plant walk-through inspection). Ensure that identified action items are completed and those actions are implemented effectively.
  • Facilitate, with insurance providers, monitoring programs such as, but not limited to, heat stress, air and noise surveys.
  • Maintains all health and safety records.
  • Responsible for maintaining hard copy and digital current and obsolete SDS files and associated manuals.
  • Responsible for leading the investigation of all accidents; compile and submit incident reports as required by Company reporting requirements; ensure effective incident follow-up investigations, including post incident re-training.
  • Establish, monitor and manage company BSFA safety program as directed by Japan i.e. 3S, KYT, RA and Safety Rules. Assures all employees are trained in internal 3S procedures, KYT, safety rules and risk assessment.
  • Conduct investigations into employee safety inquires, suggestions and complaints.
  • Maintain inventory and control distribution of safety supplies. Conduct monthly fire extinguisher, eye wash station checks and safety audits.
  • Maintain safety library. Promote safety awareness through internal company memorandum, newsletters and specific training programs. Writing and distributing reports and other correspondence; and by performing other administrative duties as needed. Secures, posts, and maintains appropriate safety educational materials on employee bulletin board.
  • Assist HR Director and VP of Ball Production with the development of short and long-term safety and environmental management system (ISO-14001) goals including objectives, targets, strategies, auditing and record keeping.
  • Reports to the HR Director on matters affecting the EHS programs.
  • Assist in all regulatory and compliance inspections. Maintains all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements including reporting requirements.
  • Travel for environmental waste site audits and document review to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental standards.
  • Completes safety and environmental reports as required by BSPJ before due dates asking BSPJ directly if better understanding of request is needed. Share reports with Production. (Limited support of Production VP.)
  • Authority to direct Production, and company as a whole, in safety activities.
  • No regular meetings between Japan and EHS at this time (as of 7/22), however if a problem arises at BSG, an emergency meeting may be held and the EHS Manager may be required to attend the meeting or provide presentations.
  • Supervise, coach, motivate, train, develop and guide employee performance.
  • Completes weekly and monthly wastewater sampling which includes PH and flow checks. Maintains weekly and monthly records and reports. Provides City of Covington information as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in other various safety and environmental activities and assignments as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises the Safety Tech. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

ISO (14001) Auditor trained
Fork-lift Train-the-Trainer
First Aid
Prefer certification in safety/health.
Other Skills and Abilities
Experience in CPR, First Aid, Fire Protection and Hazmat preferred.
