Title: Senior Email Security Engineer

Location: NYC, NY

Hybrid schedule up to 3x/week onsite during core business hours Monday-Friday

Job Description:

 The Senior Email Security Engineer will ensure that email and related network security technologies are designed, integrated, tested and configured to meet the objectives of the NYC Office of Technology and Innovation’s Cyber Command defensive efforts.

 The resource will work within Cyber Command’s Security Sciences division responsible for the design and implementation of email filtering, DNS, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, sandboxing and related technologies including cloud-based email threat prevention platforms; and work with City agencies, vendors, and cyber incident responders.

Responsibilities:  Perform security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop a security risk management plan

 Design, build, install, configure, and test dedicated cyber defense systems (hardware and software)

 Implement robust Network Security Monitoring/Continuous Security Monitoring solutions

 Operate and administer cyber defense applications and software

 Implement, configure, and manage DKIM and DMARC on target email domains  Implement, configure, and manage on-premises and cloud-native secure email gateways

 Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams to integrate security controls and procedures into workflows

 Automate controls and redundant processes whenever possible

 Liaise with cybersecurity vendors to support procurement of cybersecurity solutions

 Identify and implement performance improvements across all pipelines  Engage with data consumers and producers in order to design appropriate models to suit all needs

 Maintain information exchanges through publish, subscribe, and alert functions that enable users to send and receive critical information as required

 Support incident management, service-level management, change management, release management, continuity management, and availability management for databases and data management systems

 Administer databases and/or data management systems that allow for the secure storage, query, protection, and utilization of data Mandatory Skills/Experience

 Minimum of 8 years of IT/email security experience in large enterprise environments

 Strong understanding of email delivery architecture, email gateway and DNS technologies

 Strong understanding of networking, SMTP, DNS

 Minimum of 8 years of experience with email security solutions in large, distributed environments

 Minimum of 8 years of experience working with email threat prevention platforms in complex email delivery systems

 In-depth knowledge of DMARC, DKIM, and SPF

 In-depth knowledge of email messaging systems, system administration in email gateways, either Proofpoint Email Security Platform, Microsoft Exchange, Cisco Ironport or similar including in-depth knowledge of Exchange 2019 and Microsoft O365

 Proficient in the use of automation tools, configuration management solutions, dev-ops principles, and data analytics

 Working experience integrating SaaS services and APIs Desirable Skills/Experience:  Familiarity with or exposure to cloud application development  Familiarity with the CI/CD process  Familiarity with distributed data processing frameworks  Experience with cloud architecture

 Linux experience with account and group management

 Familiarity with Azure Platform, AzureAD, Azure MFA, Azure Graph API  Experience with High Availability Architecture of email delivery systems  Experience with continuous improvement processes

 Experience with the Agile Development Methodology  Experience with sandbox technologies and platforms

 Familiarity with scripting and using scripting languages (Python, Bash, Powershell, etc.); experience in Web development, and automated testing

 Strong communication skills

 Security and cloud certifications are a plus (CISSP, CCSP, Google Compute Platform, AWS, Azure, etc.) Special Requirements:

Salary: $45.00 - $80.00 per hour
