Senior Machine Operator Job at Smiths Group
Job Description
Operates all lapping machines on a variety of parts of metals, ceramics, carbons, plastics, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Determines time cycle to produce required size and finish of parts being lapped. Works to tolerances as close as .001 and 1 light band.
- Monitors lapping machine for condition, and lap plate flatness. Alerts supervisor or machine conditioner when adjustments are required.
- Hand polishes during machine operation when required.
- Degreases parts and cleans degreasing tank as required.
- Performs Statistical Process Control (SPC) when required
- Perform preventive maintenance to machine.
- May be required to operate more than one machine simultaneously.
- Works form factory work orders, production route tickets, written or verbal instructions.
- Makes proper job and time reports for timekeeping.
- Keeps machine and work area clean and orderly.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may vary based upon individual branch requirements.

The Individual
- Requires high school education or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret simple prints and work with fractions, decimals and/or metrics.
- Requires 1 to 3 years previous lapping experience plus 1 to 3 years Related work experience
