Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is primarily responsible for process development and optimization in CNC Swiss turning and automation, as well as secondary departments. The Senior Manufacturing engineer will be responsible for implementing automation, fixture and tooling design, HSE, and continuous improvement to assist in achieving the operations goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between design engineering and production for all processes, tooling, documentation and programs used in the fabrication and testing of products both in production and new product development. Including but is not limited to
  • Process development and deployment
  • Design and development of fixtures for machining
  • Machining and inspection tooling selection
  • Nonconformance investigation and disposition
  • Work instructions
  • Inspection documentation
  • Utilize proven lean manufacturing based analytical and problem solving abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, lead-time reduction, inventory reduction and quality improvement through defect reduction.
  • Participates in and/or leads continuous improvement events including Kaizen, Value Add Value Engineering (VAVE), Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), and competitor tear down events.
  • Implement automation to reduce human involvement in repetitive tasks.
  • Addresses any “line down” events in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and coordinate the calibration of inspection equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Engineering
  • 7-10 years related engineering experience with demonstrated ability to improve processes and profitability in a mixed manufacturing environment including machining.
  • Experience with machining processes, CNC preferred
  • Experience using Lean Manufacturing technique, Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with effective trouble shooting ability.
  • Strong automation implication experience, preferred
  • Proactive and self-motivated.

Computer Skills and Technology

  • MS Office experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, or a related CAD program
  • Experience using ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Must speak, read, and write in English.
  • CAM Experience
