• Directly manage the daily operations, 5 Packaging lines and the work assignments of 4 supervisors and 100 - 125 floor employees in a department that generates $50 - $55M million in finished goods annually.
• Coordinate the short-term and long-term priorities and projects between Packaging, Maintenance and Engineering to achieve our strategic business plan. Manually update all performance metrics (Line efficiency / OEE / Change-over efficiency / Quality measures / Process Deviations / Product Yield) for analysis.
• Monitor and improve machine efficiency, product yield, and cost per unit by using available data and continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
• Work with Human Resources on all employee measurements, corrective actions, and employee development opportunities.
• Represent Packaging at all cross-departmental meetings.

Opportunity Highlights
1. Directs all aspects for safe and efficient operation of the Packaging Department.
2. Provides effective leadership, direction and coaching to direct and indirect reports including, but not limited to, delegating, staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations.
3. Develop and provide clear policies and procedures for the performance of all packaging operations.
4. Manage and adhere to all safety guidelines and metrics set forth by department.
5. Ensure food safety and product quality guidelines are met through 5S, HACCP, SQF and other systems and processes as required.
6. Analyze workflow, production equipment issues and department SOPs/guidelines to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
7. Execute daily operating plan with efficient use of resources, minimizing down time, while maximizing productivity.
8. Create and maintain work schedules to support Planning forecasts and Inventory levels.
9. Tracks department labor hours and ensures adherence to the attendance policy.
10. Eliminate through root-cause analysis all gaps between target and actual performance by use of effective coaching, training, and discipline to minimize any potential for reoccurrence.
11. Develop and implement a capability building strategy for team members with the assistance of Supervisors to ensure a consistent growth mindset is being achieved.
12. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Business Management, or related field plus 5-7 years of experience supervising in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing is preferred)
• Lean Management and/or Six Sigma experience preferred
• Technical knowledge of food powder process, equipment, sanitation, and maintenance
• Detail oriented
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel with the ability to use and create spreadsheets
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions
• Independent thinker
• Understanding of production goals
• Sense of urgency in completing tasks
• Standing for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
