Job Description
The Revenue Management organization for the CHEP NA is responsible for developing, communicating, and leading the execution of pricing & market strategy and profitability optimization through pricing and value-capture activities at both the strategic and tactical levels. The team uses modelling, analytics and econometrics (e.g. pricing elasticity) to create pricing strategies for our services.
CHEP NA is currently looking to fill the role of Sr. Pricing Analyst – Data Science.
The Senior Pricing Analyst’s primary focus is to support the development, execution and management of analytical models to support pricing and other related business functions.

Major/Key Accountabilities

Support strategic pricing and price execution across the CHEP North America through data and analytics.

Responsible for experimenting with and implementing machine learning techniques on internal/external customer projects
-
Responsible for learning new data science techniques/programming languages and exploring their viability on current projects
-
Provide thorough analytical breakdowns of pricing structures in each of our customer segments
-
Perform competitor analysis (“share of wallet”) on products/services and segments
-
Help design, implement and measure pricing actions to provide data on pricing achievement and portfolio management scenarios.

Collects, cleanses, and automates data flows into a central repository
-
Analyzes existing data sets to identify patterns, outliers, and areas of inconsistencies through relationships that exist in the data
-
Collaborates with business leaders to validate data insights, and design strategies or recommend changes
-
Builds models for automated data analysis and predictive insights
-
Creates data visualizations for end users including the use of pricing dashboards (Power BI, Tableau) or user interfaces (PowerApps or other web-based interface)

Demonstrate good judgment and analytical skills to conduct option analysis and present recommendations
-
Provide analysis and technical support for pricing initiatives that include setting list prices, determine customer specific discounts and identify promotion and rebate opportunities
-
Synthesize external trends with internal data, including material costs, production costs, prices of services currently on the market, advertising & promotional costs with current financial margins and budget targets.

Identify ideal pricing structures and suggest areas to improve profitability

Assist with value chain analysis for the business and help to deliver key metrics to support improved service, cost reductions or product differentiation

Execute improvements to existing technology tools that can assist with effective pricing management.

Conduct analyses and rapidly drive to actionable insights
-
Enhanced evaluation of historical prices, analyze win/loss ratios, and work with strategic marketing to develop guidance on where to play
-
Analyze current and future pricing deals, refine deal scoring parameters, drive deal approval within the defined governance structure

Create reports reflecting metrics and project status, objectives, and barriers
-
Communicate findings effectively to relevant teams in the company

Work with the sales, revenue management and marketing team to define pricing structure for company products and services

Perform other duties as assigned

Work with broader Marketing Strategy and Transformation Team to provide portfolio level reviews and analyses for the commercial teams

Intelligent application of data science principles to produce desired business results

Successfully collaborate on projects with multiple stakeholders in the Pricing Center of Excellence

Support the management of North America’s pricing initiatives to drive margin optimization across the organization.

Create and maintains databases with all necessary pricing data to establish as history and data trail, on which to build future price structures and strategies.
Qualifications
-
Management Information Systems (MIS), Data Science/Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics and/or equivalent formal training. Additional technical certifications a plus.

1-2 years’ work experience in data science position
-
A proven record of being a constant, curious learner
-
Knowledge of pricing principles, strategy and yield management techniques in a B2B type environment (a plus). Understands the latest in pricing theory and practice.

Proficient with machine learning and statistics
-
Knowledge in classification (random forest, logistic regression), regression (linear, XGBoost) and clustering (k-means).

Software development experience
-
Proficiency with version control software (e.g. GitHub, SubVersion, Git) is a plus.

Excellent communication skills
-
Proficient with cloud computing in environments such are AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure.

Participated in numerous data science projects

Utilized several data science methodologies

Worked autonomously and delivered results on schedule

Presented results to a non-data scientist audience – for business decision-making and solutioning

Experience with pricing analytics software is a bonus.

Strong organizational and project management skills and the capability to manage several projects at the same time.
Skills and Knowledge
-
Use advanced data modelling tools such as R, Python, SAS to develop and enhance data-driven decision models. Data wrangling experience with code-based tools is required.

Knowledge of retrieving and wrangling data from relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, BigQuery, etc.)
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.

Major ERP/CRM/BI system and tools, such as Salesforce, Tableau, SAP, Siebel preferred
-
Strong knowledge of economics, pricing, and financial math.

Strong analytical and organization skills; experience collecting business requirements and translating them into solution designs
-
Knowledge and experience in process optimization, quality and change management projects
-
Experience with cloud technologies: Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure
-
Experience interfacing with leaders and stakeholders across multiple teams with varying objectives (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain/ Operations).

Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills required.
Preferred Education
Bachelors - Computer and Information Science, Masters - Statistics
