Position Description
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health is recruiting for a Health Program Specialist 2 located in Carson City. This Health Program Specialist 2 position serves as the Population Health and Wellness Unit supervisor, supervising both the Tobacco Control Program and the Healthy Aging Program within the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (CDPHP) Section of the Bureau of Child, Family, and Community Wellness. This position leads the Population Health and Wellness Workgroup (Unit) by providing leadership and vision and working collaboratively with internal and external programs and agencies. Priority is leveraging existing resources across CDPHP programs to extend policy efforts and activities. The Population Health and Wellness unit aims to help improve population health outcomes and well-being effectively through various initiatives and programs. This may include preventative measures to reduce the incidence of chronic diseases, promote healthy lifestyles, and improve access to healthcare services. The unit may also work to address social determinants of health, such as poverty and inequality, that can impact health outcomes. Overall, the goal is to create a healthier and more vibrant community. This position is responsible for staying current on evidence-based practices and utilizing proven approaches to ensure programs effectively apply population-level interventions. The position should continually search for new funding opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a health science, behavioral science or closely related field applicable to the program area and three years of health-related experience which included at least two of the following areas: researching, collecting and analyzing data and statistics, developing objectives, protocols and procedures; providing health education services to target groups or the general public; evaluating program effectiveness and accomplishment of desired outcomes to meet agency, federal, agency, or other standards and guidelines; providing prevention, identification or treatment services to individuals or populations who have been diagnosed or are at risk of contracting life and health threatening diseases and/or conditions; preparing grant applications and budgets and developing, preparing and administering contracts and reports related to health services; and/or investigation and prevention of communicable or chronic diseases; OR one year of experience as a Health Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
