WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The Senior Social Media Strategist is responsible for working with account teams, cross-functional teams and clients to develop and lead social media strategies and oversee all social media work. They will ensure all efforts align with business and marketing goals and meet defined channel strategies and best practices. High-level responsibilities include:
- Works alongside agency cross-functional teams to develop fully integrated digital and social media marketing strategies and solutions that deliver on our clients’ business and marketing objectives.
- Oversees the social media planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of associates who contribute to work on the assigned accounts.
- Provides direction and oversight to social media while facilitating integration and strategic account growth.
- Provides strategic thought leadership in the social media space. Educates agency peers and clients.
- Candidate must be a problem-solver and innovator who will look for ideas and solutions through analytics, technology trends and audience insights to influence brand/marketing strategies.
- Contributes to discussions about the agency’s social media marketing processes and offerings.
WHAT OUR SENIOR SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIST WILL DO ONCE THEY’RE HERE
- Act as the main point of contact to assigned accounts for all assigned client-related deliverables.
- Lead strategic planning efforts, including the development of annual plans and integrated campaigns in collaboration with cross-functional team members including digital strategists (on certain accounts act as the digital strategist).
- Lead strategic planning efforts for employee social media activation programs.
- Share strategic recommendations with the internal team and client on an ongoing basis.
- Oversee social project budgets and scoping for social media projects.
- Works with the account and project management teams to help define scope and recommended approaches for digital and social media projects, as appropriate.
- Collaborate with internal team members to develop a social media content calendar. Ensure social media content aligns with channel objectives and strategies, brand voice and tone, and social media best practices.
- Provide oversight to channel moderation and ensure interactions are acknowledged and addressed in a timely fashion.
- Maintain internal processes and protocols related to community management and issue resolution. Oversee the development of responses to questions, comments, and issues, ensuring all responses use the appropriate brand voice and tone.
- Collaborate with the media department on paid social media campaigns, including campaign planning, budget and management; target audience development; and ad development. Set up and manage ad campaigns in social advertising platforms. Optimize campaigns as necessary to ensure channel and campaign objectives are met.
- Oversee and assist in social media landscape audits. Support tracking of competitors’ social media channels and strategies.
- Oversee and assist in social media reporting efforts for client channels and campaigns, ensuring accurate data and actionable insights are delivered to both internal and client teams to continually optimize performance. Share high-level trends with the internal team.
- Leverage research tools and data to form strategic approaches that are driven by actionable insights.
- Contribute to client status calls and maintain day-to-day communication with client contacts.
- Evaluate applicable social media trends, new platform features, and other potential opportunities, and make recommendations for how the client can implement them.
- Supports department leads in providing social media marketing support, internal social process development, coaching, professional development and training to 2RM associates and clients.
- Serve as an agency subject matter expert, resource, and thought leader on social media topics, including paid and organic social media best practices and trends. Support agency digital marketing efforts as needed, including contributing to THRIVE internal training, digital team training, agency social media channels, the agency blog, and new business efforts.
- Acquire and maintain relevant social media certifications, attend webinars, read industry blogs, and follow digital thought leaders to stay on top of the ever-evolving social media landscape.
SKILLS REQUIRED

- A strong understanding of how the agency makes money to support company growth
WHAT OUR SENIOR SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIST WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
- College degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business, or a related field is preferred
- 5-7 years of hands-on experience in social media marketing
- Minimum of 3 years of paid social media campaign management experience
- Functional knowledge of Facebook Business Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Twitter Ads, Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics; Snapchat and Pinterest advertising a plus
- Experience using social media management platforms like Sprout Social
- Deep knowledge of the role of social media in the digital landscape
- Superior communication skills, both internal and client facing
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of internal teams
- Effective time management as well as strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to monitor and adhere to budgets and schedules
- Strong interest in technology and digital marketing
- In-depth understanding of agency processes
- Strong desire to expand digital knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
