Position Summary
Under supervision of the Senior Administrative Coordinator, the Senior Student Assistant will perform a variety of duties in support of academic research projects, monitor student worker job-task, and contact with the public. Performs clerical and manual duties that involve limited use of specialized skills and equipment. Work usually follows prescribed or well-established procedures, and is normally reviewed or verified on completion. Detailed instructions will be given for new assignments or more varied tasks; however, the employee may work with some independence on routine matters.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
  • Manage the work schedule shift for student assistants.
  • Coordinates arrangements for conferences, programs, meetings, special events.
  • Greet and appropriately direct visitors to Student Affairs staff.
  • Supervises inventories of supplies and equipment.
  • Performs administrative operational functions for administrators.
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Schedule appointments for Student Affairs staff
  • Create and disseminate marketing materials
  • Makes recommendations for and implements changes in office procedures.
  • Effectively manage security sensitive/confidential information
  • Answer Student Affairs incoming phone calls
  • Set up materials for programs and events (including making copies, assembling packets for workshops, fairs, and events)
  • Tally Student Affairs service utilization
  • Pick up and distribute mail for Student Affairs
  • Assist with making handouts for workshops and other tasks as needed by Student Affairs staff
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled UNT Dallas, student in good standing and making satisfactory progress toward completion of a degree or certification program. Applicants must possess the following:
  • Excellent customer service skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Outlook, MS TEAMS, ZOOM).
  • Some knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational,cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Responsible, reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to learn assigned tasks readily, to adhere to prescribed routines, and to develop some skill in the operation of common office equipment.


Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a Student Assistant

Required License / Registration / Certification

Work Schedule
Up to 19 hours per week. Person must be available to work Monday through Friday (8:30am – 5:30PM, some extended hours according to the SA suite needs, flexible according to student’s class schedule
