Gannett Fleming seeks an experienced
Senior
Water Resources Engineer with a strong roadway drainage background to join their team and provide support for planning, design, and construction support activities across various projects in the New York/New Jersey Metro area. The ideal candidate will play a key role in transportation projects that involve enhancing highway and bridge infrastructure. They will provide leadership, direction, organization, and guidance to ensure that clients receive high-quality management, design expertise, and performance targets. The position will involve detailed design tasks related to storm water management facilities, storm drainage systems, erosion and sediment control measures, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, bridge scour analyses and countermeasure design, environmental permitting, and construction phase services.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in the management and delivery of multiple tasks and contracts for local clients, including NJDOT, NJTA, and/or NYSDOT.
- Manage junior engineers and mentor them through project designs and advancing their overall knowledge.
- Provide design and technical services to clients in a proficient and timely manner.
- Prepare regulatory permit applications for impacts to floodplains, wetlands, storm water management, and soil erosion & sediment control.
- Conduct hydraulic and hydrologic calculations to investigate drainage issues and support stormwater infrastructure-related projects.
- Create engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and other relevant documentation.
- Assist in the construction administration of projects, including conducting field visits, reviewing shop drawings, and answering RFIs.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in New York or New Jersey, or able to obtain one through reciprocity.
- 15-20 years of experience in water resources and stormwater engineering, with direct involvement in stormwater management design, storm drainage system design, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and environmental permitting.
- Experience managing junior engineers and mentoring them through project designs and advancing their overall knowledge.
- Experience as a Task Manager or Project Manager.
- Proficient in using MicroStation and Bentley design software, including PondPack and StormCAD.
- Proficient with HEC-RAS.
- Understanding of roadway and highway geometric design and alignment.
- Direct experience in completing projects with public agencies in the Greater New York/New Jersey Metro area.
- Experience in obtaining permits from environmental agencies for floodplain impacts, wetland impacts, and erosion and sediment control designs.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent public speaking ability, strong project financial management skills, knowledge of production support systems, and proficiency in using personal computers are all essential competencies.
