Job Summary:
The Captains of Casa Dani are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving all who join us in a friendly and efficient manner and play an integral role in ensuring our guests have exceptional dining experiences. At all times, the Captain is expected to be attentive to our guests' needs, making them feel welcome, comfortable, and relaxed. Captains should be passionate about food and service and thoroughly enjoy creating outstanding experiences. Captains are friendly, knowledgeable, outgoing and thrive in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Serves customers with food and beverages in a positive and friendly manner.
- Be an ambassador of the Casa Dani/Dani Garcia brand.
- Provide guests information to help food and beverage selections.
- Knowledgeable of the food and beverage menus.
- Presents ordered choices in a prompt and efficient manner.
- Working closely with the Back Waiters to ensure a seamless dining experience.
- Protects establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
- Helps guests select food and beverages by suggesting items, explaining the menu, identifying appropriate beverage pairings, and answering food preparation questions.
- Able to navigate guests through the menus and guide them based on desires or dietary restrictions.
- Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression.
- Table maintenance and adhering to the Steps of Service.
- Cash and credit handling.
- Follows opening and closing duties set by Service Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of New York City fine dining serving experience.
- Knowledge of cocktails, food & wine service a must.
- Ability to learn and master Toast, the point-of-sale (POS) computer system.
- Actively practice food safety procedures.
- Able to take direction and complete tasks promptly.
- Effective use of time, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Strong willingness to learn and self-improve in all aspects of wine, food, and service knowledge.
- Pleasant, positive, and team-oriented demeanor.
- Clear and polished oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team in a very fast-paced environment.
- Ability to engage guests in an articulate fashion and build relationships.
- Impeccable grooming habits, as defined by management and dress code.
- Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time (minimum of 8 hours).
- Ability to kneel, reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and lift at least 35lbs.
- Must meet state minimum age for serving alcoholic beverages.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include days, nights, weekends and holidays
