Position Summary:
Serves food and beverages to residents and guests in a timely, professional manner.
Essential Job Functions:
- Approach all encounters with residents and Employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Monitor residents’ well-being in a general way
- Report any changes in the condition of a resident to the supervisor immediately
- Assist residents with simple requests as needed or find an appropriate Employee to assist
- Look for opportunities to exceed resident expectations and enhance resident satisfaction
- Maintain cleanliness in the dining room and ensure proper table settings at all times
- Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware
- Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens
- Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers
- Greet residents and escort them to their tables as required
- Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
- Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
- Takes food and beverage orders and serves meals as they are ordered
- Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff
- Serve food in an efficient and professional manner
- Check with residents and guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
- Resolve resident complaints regarding food quality and/or service
- Thank residents as they are leaving
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning. Wash dishes as needed per meal/shift
- Ensure tables are cleared and reset during each shift
- Assists other staff as needed
- Assist with other cleanings as needed including vacuuming and mopping
- Maintain a clean dining room, chairs, windows, and hutches
- Support open and honest communication with and between all Employees
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working
- Look for ways to reduce costs and create efficiencies daily
- Ensure regulatory compliance and report any issues or concerns immediately
- Support continuous improvement
- Comply with Valeo standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient community operations
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or required

Six months to one year of dining experience.
