1. Position
- Yard Material Handling Supervisor
- FLSA Classification(s): Non-Exempt/Hourly
2. Job Summary
- The Yard Material Handling Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of yard workers and compiles records concerned with storing and issuing materials.
3. Immediate Supervisor
- This position reports directly to the Finishing Warehouse Leader.
4. Performance Standards
- Providing exceptional customer service to all customers, suppliers, and employees.
- Constantly representing Axis Pipe and Tube in a positive and professional manner regardless of customer requests, complaints, or demeanor.
- Complying with policies and procedures.
- Interacting with other employees, suppliers, and customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Communicating work progress and significant issues to the immediate supervisor.
5. Responsibilities
- Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Assures that customer service is being provided to all production lines: Mill, Finishing, HTL, & TTL. This will require interacting with employees/supervisors/managers in each of the production lines to verify when pipe is completed and needs to be moved to or from the pipe yard.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces company policies and safety regulations.
- Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Assures that the pipe yard is well organized. This will include that the product in the yard can be identified by batch number, location, etc. in the pipe yard.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Assures that while in the pipe yard, the product will be preserved/maintained and not damaged.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Performs activities of workers supervised.
- Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description.
6. Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- Or six months to one year related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
7. Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
8. Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
