Summary

As part of the Supply Chain team, the Shipping Team Lead will work closely with our logistics providers and international customers to own, deliver, and support all logistics functions in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The position will involve frequent interaction with customer service, product development and production departments to interpret customer requirements as it relates to logistics. You are a hands-on individual with the ability to think on your feet and work well under pressure. You will also have demonstrated the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

In addition to the primary function of logistics, this position will also be responsible for the direct supervision of the shippers/ receivers.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a computer-savvy, resourceful quick learner with strong problem-solving skills, as well as logistics experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and arrange all logistics for land, ocean, and air freight for both inbound and outbound freight.
• Attend daily open orders morning meetings to give updated shipping information and communicate the meeting details back to the shipping department.
• Provide guidance to the rest of the shipping department.
• Work directly with both domestic and international customers on the life cycle of an order and shipment including coordination of export arrangements, communication of order details, documentation, and logistics with customer up to point of delivery.
• Involved extensively in the logistics process including customs at Barrday as it relates to outbound / inbound shipments. Familiarity and / or willingness to learn the customs documentation / process is essential.
• Work with all freight vendors to ensure competitive pricing is obtained.
• Support and drive innovation in the use of ERP capabilities as a tool to achieve operational excellence.

Key Qualifications/Requirements:

• Associate Degree in business, supply chain management or a related field is preferred.
• Must have at least 2 years’ experience in logistics environment
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Excellent computer literacy and previous experience with automated scheduling systems (ERP / MRP)
• Strong understanding and implementation experience with Lean concept and tools.
• Strong Excel and word processing experience/knowledge is necessary.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and under pressure
• Must possess outstanding verbal & written communication skills and work effectively with customers, team members, vendors, and logistics providers

Working Conditions

This role works mainly in a manufacturing plant environment. The position will require frequent walking and standing for long periods.
