Shipyard Laborer Job at Diversified Marine Inc
Job Title: Laborer
Job Summary: Diversified Marine (DMI) is looking to hire laborers at their shipyard in Portland, Oregon. Laborers help the production team maintain a safe, productive work environment. Daily responsibilities include removing trash / debris from work area, maintaining good welding lead management, operating forklift to move materials in yard, rigging and assisting fitters, welders, joiners with work tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Work safely and deliver quality craftsmanship in a fast-paced environment.
- Be a team player—able to work well with others to accomplish a common goal.
- Remove trash, scrap steel, debris from vessels under construction.
- Install protective coverings to prevent damage to finished product.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Operate forklift to move materials and help with receiving.
Requirements:
- Experience in an industrial environment and knowledge of safe work practices.
- Attention to detail and ability to communicate issues to leadership.
- Physical ability to complete the work including lifting up to 75lbs.
- Ability to work effectively with other members of team.
- Positive attitude and team player mentality.
Compensation: Starting at $16-$18 / hr depending on experience. Benefits and PTO included after 3 months. 401k with matching after 12 months.
