Shop Assistant
Sumitomo is looking for a Shop Assistant to join our Grand River, OH team. This is an entry level position and we are open to any level of experience. This position is for a self-starter who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty helping in the shop.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Drives a motor vehicle (automobile, utility van, pickup, light truck, etc.) up to 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (GVW) on the public highways to transport non-hazardous materials or equipment.
Loads and unloads vehicle.
Perform a variety of production duties, such as tending machines, handling product, visual sorting or inspection, packing, or performing other operations.
Assist large machine operators with setups, adjustments and operations, assist with assembly and erection operations, etc. involving the handling of heavy weight materials, tools and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUPERVISORY POSITION: No
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Typical machine shop setting. Staff members will need to be able to work while standing, sitting, bending, and climbing. Staff members will do frequent lifting.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Requires the ability to follow demonstrated directions
- Basic math, logical reasoning, and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of machine shop operations and practices
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
