WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
JOB DUTIES
The Shop Lead will support the Assistant Manager by leading assigned personnel in the trucking dispatch, farm implement maintenance, and tire service department. The position is highly involved and responsible for the overall safety, productivity, and work quality of their team. This is considered a "hands-on" leadership position that will require working alongside direct report mechanics and drivers on and off site when required.
- Assign personnel in work area as directed by Assistant Manager
- Assist the Assistant Manager in training, developing, and evaluating personnel
- Enforce and maintain company and departmental rules and policies
- Maintain shop and job site safety
- Maintain all driving records and D.O.T related information
- Maintain, organize, and update work schedules routinely
- Oversee tire bay and implement service areas
- Oversee farm implement repair and maintenance area
- Must report and record any unsafe conditions
- Must always follow Company policies and department rules
- Work directly and cooperate with the Department Managers to accomplish project goals as needed
- Sustain all 5S organizational efforts in assigned area of responsibility
- Keep the area Management informed of day-to-day production and maintain quality control of finished product
- Maintain a variety of equipment and tools to ensure their safe operation
- Report defective tools, equipment immediately to Management
- Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Speak English effectively
- Valid California Class A Driver's license and clean driving record
- Safely operate and load heavy equipment
- Familiarity with DOT regulations
Additional Required Qualifications:
- Punctual, excellent attendance record, and cooperate with others
- Able to communicate effectively in English (Spanish is a plus)
- Ability to work in productive manner and strive to maintain a spirit of teamwork, support, and cooperation
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to operate various tire repair equipment
- Knowledge of D.O.T regulations and requirements
- Basic knowledge of Arc/ Mig welding and cutting methods
- Basic experience in troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems
- Previous experience in 'Total Process Reliability" (TPR) maintenance is a plus
- Must be able to lead by example
- Must be able to multitask
- Must do well under pressure
- Must support team with assigned tasks as needed
- Previous experience with farm implement repairs and service Experience in Farm and Industrial Tire service
- Good attention for detail
- Ability to work in group setting
- Apply common sense; understand and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form Safety quality when performing work
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as workload requires
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years previous related experience preferred
- Previous experience Tire repair, Trucking, and Supervisory experience
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to grasp and climb steps or ladders
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, dry, dusty, windy, etc.)
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces
- Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, reach, push, pull.
- Must be able to see and hear as required to properly perform job tasks
Hours & Workdays:
- 1st shift (7:00 am - 4:30 pm), Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 3:30 pm Friday); when business requires overtime and weekends will be mandatory
