Saphyre is a brand new dispensary located in the Easton District and is offering the right candidate the opportunity to join our team as a Security Agent. The Security Agent will be solely responsible for enforcing environmental, personnel and inventory security measures for the facility.

The Security Agent is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for personnel and patients through awareness of State regulatory guidelines and is actively engaged with customers, staff and their environment. The Security Agent monitors the facility parking lot as well as the entrance and departure of patients, staff, vendors, contractors, visitors and any other persons in and out of the dispensary to guard against theft, diversion and security of premises. The Security Agent only performs tasks related to security operations while on duty.

Primary Responsibilities of this Position

• Conduct daily inspections of cameras, alarms and the facility perimeter to ensure that equipment is functioning properly and that there are no external breaches or threats.
• Facilitate employee safety and security training to include active shooter, fire drills, crisis control and other emergency response activities.
• Welcoming guests and customers into the store with a positive, upbeat and friendly demeanor.
• Monitors access in and out of the dispensary, helping dispensary staff control access to the facility in accordance with State rules and regulations by following a strict check-in process, and actively monitors physical security around the dispensary.
• Assist dispensary staff with controlling access to facility by ID examination and verification. Manage the security of delivery, visitor and contractor flow.
• Conduct routine patrols and inspections of dispensary and grounds. Manage building services such as coordinating facility maintenance and equipment repair ensuring that the facility is maintained in good, safe repair.
• Monitors video surveillance system to maintain surveillance of dispensary to secure the premises and marijuana products.
• Perform required systems testing, appropriate documentation and coordinate security systems maintenance and repair.
• In the event of emergency, secure staff, visitors, and building. Act as liaison with local police or law enforcement and build effective relationships with community members and stakeholders.
• Maintain daily written and/or electronic tracking sheets, noting all activity on premises.
• Create SOPs and ensure organizational security compliance with State regulations and applicable laws related to security.
• Escort staff members or others between vehicles and building, as requested.
• Recognizes unsafe situations and respond in a responsible manner.
• Document any incidents and/or accidents and report them to the General Manager.
• Prevent the diversion of marijuana, marijuana products and its revenue from going to criminal enterprises, gangs, and cartels. Prevent the distribution of marijuana to minors.
• Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Be able to conduct interactions with an upbeat and informed approach with the patients; prioritizing safety, security and accountability.
• Thrive to perform job duties in a fast-paced environment with the ability to stay even-keeled in periods of stress.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct.

Essential Functions of the Position

• Must be able to stand and move for 8+ hours at a time
• Prolonged periods of standing
• Extensive use of office equipment, computers, security surveillance and intrusion systems, and telecommunications
• May require lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to verbally communicate with managers, staff, customers and patients
• Effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Investigation, interview and interrogation skills
• Must pass foundational training specific to safety and security on an ongoing basis and shall keep abreast of regulatory updates

Qualifications for the Position

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must pass FBI/BCI background check on a continual basis
• 3+ years of experience in private or public security, law enforcement, criminal justice or other governmental security agencies
• Basic computer skills
• May have knowledge of Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program regulations
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct
• Ability to communicate clearly and calmly and de-escalate situations, as needed
