General Description:
Working in the Office of Marketing and Communications, the Social and Digital Design Manager leads college social media and provides digital/graphic design support to the Senior Graphic Designer. In addition to social media, this position coordinates and creates print and digital design concepts, including support for the website, digital marketing, video, events, and marketing/recruitment initiatives and communications. The Social and Digital Design Manager will partner with the CRM Specialist on email marketing. This position is supervised by the department’s Director and will be based at Walla Walla Campus.
Essential Functions:
- Manage collegewide social media and serve as primary social media point of contact.
- Maintain, monitor, and optimize the college’s primary social media accounts, including inquiries and engagement, to ensure consistency, accuracy, quality, brand and promptness in posting and response. Seek guidance and direction from Director of Marketing and Communications and others where warranted.
- Write, edit, and repurpose content.
- Maintain content calendar and supporting resources to plan, publish and track content across multiple social media platforms. Generate—and source from others—imagery, video, and textual content for use in social media.
- Manage and communicate social media KPIs and other analytics, communicating them with stakeholders where warranted.
- Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Communications on social media advertising. Download leads from social media campaigns.
- Monitor, and have oversight over, college’s secondary accounts.
- Develop and provide social media workshops for college constituents.
- Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Communications on development of digital advertising campaigns. Serve as point of contact for digital advertising design.
- Measure digital campaign effectiveness through Google Analytics and other tools. Provide campaign updates to appropriate stakeholders.
- In collaboration with Senior Graphic Designer, coordinate and create print/digital design concepts and materials.
- Ensure quality of final product by working closely with requester, and vendor where applicable, throughout creative cycle.
- In collaboration with Senior Graphic Designer, develop and maintain College style and standards guide for print, social, and web.
- Follow approved brand identity and related guidelines.
- Build and maintain template library in compliance with brand standards and college needs. Create and maintain employee toolkit to include common marketing items and templates.
- Work with the Communications Consultant 2 to provide graphic support for college video. Produce motion graphics for use in video productions.
- Work with CRM Specialist to create email marketing templates and communications.
- Provide website content. and serve as a backup for website updates and requests.
- Support development and distribution of emergency and weather-related communications.
- Provide support for Google and similar online local listings.
- Assist in photography and videography, as well as photoshoots and video production projects, as needed.
- Continually monitor emerging design and social media trends.
- Support all functions of the Office of Marketing and Communications as assigned.
- This role may oversee a small allocation of the Marketing and Communications budget dedicated to social media advertising and may process numerous work requests with budget implications on Marketing and Communications, as well as other offices, departments, and divisions throughout the College.
- Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design and layout. Strong skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign and Photoshop.
- Demonstrated proficiency in social media, including strategy, content and metrics.
- Familiarity with emerging design and social media trends, as well as the tools to achieve them.
- Effectively conveys ideas and information through written and interpersonal communication.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, creative and attention to detail. Strong organizational, prioritization, project-management, and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
- Ability to exercise good judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.

- Ability to learn new software quickly and efficiently.

Qualifications:
Equivalent education/professional experience may substitute at the discretion of the college.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, studio arts, graphic design or related field.
- 2 years of practical experience.
- Demonstrated strong familiarity with social media.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign and Photoshop.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Higher education work experience.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics.
- Still photography.
- Experience with email template design.
This is a full-time professional position. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment. Official college transcripts required at time of hire. Candidates may be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition of employment. The college is a tobacco free institution.
Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in an office environment. Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in office environments. This position requires the ability to sit, walk or stand for extended periods of time and movement between buildings and outside facilities/grounds. This position work schedule will typically be Monday through Friday 8-hours each day. During the summer, work schedule is Monday through Thursday 10-hours each day. Some travel (typically local or regional) may be required.
Compensation:
Annual salary range: $63,000 - $68,000. The college has an excellent benefit program including paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; retirement and two optional deferred compensation programs. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). All administrative exempt staff set aside 1% of their gross salary in a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) (VEBA). All exempt employees are required to participate in this program. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.
